Another Weekend in Los Angeles Without UPS
Bookings to Australia are very heavy and many customers have decided that “first up, best dressed” will reduce the possibility of their freight getting hung up en route to Aussie. All three stations are reporting lots of weekend freight already sitting on the dock awaiting consolidation. Greg Melissinos, our Eastern region V.P. has been assured by Qantas, his favorite airline, that all consolidations will ride as booked. Unfortunately, the Air Tahiti Nui export service from JFK is being scrapped after this next week and we will be further reliant upon Air New Zealand and Qantas to move our South Pacific freight. Christian Calderon, our Atlanta Director of Operations, has Air New Zealand all lined up to move his SYD/MEL/AKL consolidations.
Export from LAX, with UPS no longer figuring in our plans, we have ULD’s booked with Singapore Airlines to handle our unknown shippers. We will be heavily supporting Thai, Philippine Airlines, Air Pacific and Air NZ with our known shipper consolidations. Every week we make a plea for customers to separate their consolidations into known and unknown. We have far more permutations available to us to flush freight out on passenger carriers and, of course, there is also a price saving incentive to help you consider your options.
