ONE OR TWO AIRLINES STILL HAVE THEIR HEADS IN THE CLOUDS

The airline who doesn’t wish to recognize that pricing is now reflecting our economic times, will rapidly lose its customer base. One carrier to the South Pacific has become quite arrogant in its attitude whenever the question has been raised over the past three weeks for a spot rate. “You have our contract rates and that is the current rate on offer,” is their retort. Last week we learned they lost a twenty tonne shipment out of Atlanta to a competitor who is only represented there by a GSA! We hear on the grapevine UPS is massaging their rates upwards. After dealing with that weird mob for nearly nine years, it doesn’t surprise me. There must be something about living close to Churchill Downs and being amongst all that horse dung. Instead of looking reality straight in the eye, they are still spending their time looking up horses’ rear ends. Or maybe they are the horse’s rear end in these unprecedented times!

By and large, we have been very happy with our airline suppliers as they want to see us move freight. Last week we succeeded in winning several large multi-tonne shipments out of L.A., Texas and Atlanta and if it weren’t for the fair pricing we received, I am sure a competitor would have wrested the freight from us. This brings me to the point of previous blogs. We want your freight and we will obtain the best pricing possible, matched by the best service possible, to look after your needs. We’re hungry and we definitely want and moreover need your business.
