RUSSIA BEATS CHINA IN TAKING TO THE STREETS
Mr Putin spent last week grandstanding amongst his peers at the Davos economic summit while at home protestors took to the streets of Moscow and Vladivostok. Putin may have been able to grandstand in the international arena when he was reaping the benefits of the world getting ripped off by high oil prices, but now his country is back where it used to be; a third world bastion of poverty. With most of the $500 billion foreign reserves melting away as the oligarchs start paying their huge international debt by offering the Russian government equity in their enterprises and the oil price falling below the costs of extraction, Mr Putin’s country is back to where it used to be fifty years ago. The experiment with capitalism didn’t work. Many inefficient factories were closed down as the Oligarchs took over the Russian economy and with mineral prices heading towards all time lows, Russia’s economy is in tatters.
The average man in the street has seen little benefit of the Glasnost and Perestroika reforms introduced by Mr Gorbachev in the eighties. After seventy years of Communism, the Russian infrastructure was in a mess and the subsequent regimes of Yeltsin and Putin may have raised a little hope in the masses, but at the end of the day it was high oil prices, not industry modernization, that pushed Russia out of the third world for a year or two. Unlike America, there was very little trickle down in their post Soviet economy. At least under Communism, the poor felt they were being represented, but under Putin they have been left far behind. Now there is a groundswell within Russia for a yearning to return to the good old days. I predict within a short space of time just like the days of the revolution in 1917, protests will grow into street riots, with anarchy taking over instead of Communism. It is well known the Russian “mafia” plays a role in the day to day activities of Russian commerce and they could hugely profit from chaos in the streets. Mt Putin, your days are numbered, my man, and if I were you, the best deal may be to seek asylum in America! If I had my way I would send you to Zimbabwe. Mugabe needs you.
Now, Mr Wen of China, I know you have spent a week in Europe sliming up to those gutless Europeans, but methinks it is time for you to withdraw to the bunkers inside the Forbidden City. Your role as a global player is about to come to an end. Now I know you don’t want to admit it but your economy is in tatters. After spending $50 billion hosting the Olympic Games, you will rue the day that you didn’t invest that money on infrastructure to improve the living standards of 95% of your population. You see, had you not expanded into being the global supplier of junk, 150 million rural workers would not have downed their hoes and rushed to the large cities to join the industrial work force. Already some thirty million will stay at home after Chinese New Year and re-sharpen their garden tools and I would venture to say the remaining 120 million will find it hard to obtain work back in the sweat shops and polluted factories of Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin and other industrial cities.
Unfortunately as much as you have tried to censor the Internet, Tiananmen Square will appear like it was a picnic in the park compared to what is going to happen in the streets of your large cities. I would postpone any investments outside of China and bolster up the security forces because you are in for a civil war and your opponents will be all those university graduates up to the age of thirty. It is always a problem when third world countries invest in education; people become enlightened. Add to that the TV set and the Internet and there is no turning back. Mr Wen, resign now and hand over your country to democratic rule. You may have bluffed your way as a member of the G 8 that you have a hold on the world, but mate, I am telling you it is over thanks to those thugs on Wall Street. They have given you a recession that is more than a depression and students/graduates will be taking to the streets shortly and any violence on your part, the world will see you for who you truly are and represent. It is going to be ugly, very ugly.
