JULY NUMBERS AT CII SECOND BEST FOR THE YEAR
Our goal of attaining a bigger slice of a smaller pie became a reality in July. Our V.P. Global Sales, Graham Burford has left no stone unturned in ferreting out new business. New business for us, but lost business for our competitor! In many ways it is a sad state of affairs, but the way Peter Lamy and I look at it, we have a massive responsibility to make sure thirty loyal colleagues remain gainfully employed and our obligations are met with our creditors. Tony Feist, V.P. of tunasupport.com was also a huge net contributor. It is often said that the most bullet proof of companies in a recession are the food processors. Poor Tony is struggling keep up with the expediting of tuna fishing boat spares and land-based factory machine parts to faraway places like Panama City and Pago Pago. He has created a monster and to cope most evenings he is the last to leave the office. It is hard to imagine but less than twenty five years ago, San Diego was the world headquarters for tuna fishing and production.
Fingers crossed that what we achieved in July becomes the standard for the remainder of the year.
