Europe and America are still in the grips of cold bleak weather with no sign of Spring arriving just yet. The Southern Hemisphere has been basking in one of best summers on record. The Copenhagen get together in January ended up a disaster for the Al Gore lovers. The Northern Hemisphere weather could not have been better timed to prove all those brain boxes wrong who led us to believe global warming will ravage the world sooner rather than later. After visiting China several times in the last decade, I have had the bad experience of sand storms in Beijing, choking air in Tianjin and polluted fog that lasts all day in Shenyang. Why don’t Gore and his greenie buddies take China on because it is their absolute disregard for the environment which will be the cause of future problems relating to the ecological balance of the world?

Now I am a believer in saving the whales and I am concerned about the depletion of stock in the world’ fishing grounds, but when it comes to idiots telling me that cow farting is going to ruin the ozone layer it puts much into perspective for me. The world is going nuts listening to these university types who seemed to get paid to seek publicity instead of teaching students to become productive citizens. Battery driven cars pose more problems to the environment once their batteries reach the end of their life and need to be disposed of than a gasoline driven car with its emissions. Just like old computers, they will be exported to the rubbish dumps of China for “recycling”. There we will see children standing over Bunsen burners separating all the chemical elements that make up a lithium battery.

This carbon trading nonsense is just nonsense. I would love to claim the cowboys Wall Street were behind it, but it was the liberal left wing tree hugging loonies who convinced European and other socialist governments it was a great idea. I cannot think that by rewarding a company/country for converting from gasoline to ethanol is a good deal for the world. Converting grazing land into corn fields poses more environmental risk than sucking oil out of the ground. What’s more the cost of ethanol (unless it is government subsidized) is such most of the world could not afford top fill their cars with it!

When are we going to see common sense prevail in our desire to protect the world’s environment? I say we start by boycotting all crap that comes out of China. That would solve 50% of the problem virtually right away. If it means Wal-Mart goes out of business, then great. I couldn’t wish for a better casualty in the fight to reduce pollution.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A MIDDLE CLASS IN AMERICA; IT’S THE WORKING POOR

As first world countries have allowed greedy capitalists dictate where labor is bought and sold, we are now in a civilization where outside of the extremely wealthy class, we have turned the middle class into literally the working poor. For over fifteen years I have watched American industrial innovation being replaced by re-engineering. Re-engineering doesn’t help create building a better mouse trap that would increase sales for a company and thus profits and from there to create more opportunity. Re-engineering is about reducing costs to extract more profits. The biggest cost for most manufacturing companies outside sometimes of raw materials, is labor. As economists and their ilk now claim we live in a global community, these greedy narcissists at the top actually do believe if a Chinaman is happy with $0.50/hour then an American should feel exactly the same. If he doesn’t, then lump it. It is a case of allowing the market to find its own levels and so American manufacturing embarked on the route of exporting labor.

What made America the greatest nation on earth was most Americans post World War Two were able to live the “American Dream” Up until the middle eighties prosperity was part and parcel of the lives of all middle Americans. Every working American shared in the wealth that was created by making real things. Houses over the last sixty years were built with at least two car garages, because most families were two car families! We just didn’t have one television set, we ended having one in the kitchen as well as every bedroom! For nearly forty years American companies grew organically making better and better products that helped them to become more and more profitable. Middle class Americans shared in the growing wealth, by receiving great healthcare and pension plans and higher wages in keeping with their employers increased profitability.

Twenty-five years ago thanks to President Reagan’s promotion that life should be about less government and less taxes, we created a dominating class representing the selfish and greedy. In 1970 the average Fortune 500 Company CEO earned twenty-five times the average worker’s wage. Today the ratio is nearly 450 times! In 2009 the average worker (one of the lucky ones yet to be laid off) is earning less than he did twenty years ago and is struggling to maintain payments on his house and car while the bastards at the top flit from mansion to mansion in the corporate jet, and like John McCain married (second time around) to a wealthy woman, probably can’t even remember how many family homes they and his missus owned!

One of the saddest things for me is to see the destruction of the middle class and in its place find an underclass, the working poor! Being the socialist I am, once this recession is over, I want to see some re-distribution of wealth. No-one should be earning money they couldn’t spend in 200 lifetimes while so many of their felloe citizens are having sand thrown in their faces by these heartless monsters who have grown rich by literally riding on the backs of the former middle class.

In 1946 in a speech to Westminster College in Missouri, Sir Winston Churchill proclaimed, “From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic an iron curtain has descended across the continent.” At the time war weary Europe and America condemned his speech as war mongering. How profoundly correct Churchill proved to be about Soviet expansionism! Not just content with Eastern Europe, with the help of Communist China the Bolsheviks in sticking to their doctrine of dominating the world, embarked upon taking over Asia.

The Vietnam War became the largest battleground defending democracy over communism. No matter how unpopular the war became, America could claim it was defending freedom. In the end Taiwan, South Korea and all Pacific Rim nations south of Vietnam owe their prosperity to America’s stand against communism. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, America decided Iraq and Afghanistan needed to be freed from the clutches of evil and here we are now involved in conflicts that are even more unwinnable than Vietnam ever was. Where are the anti-Vietnam protestors now? Thousands of lives have been needlessly lost for what? For a bunch of Muslim thugs that have the blessing of those in power in both countries.

I say those two countries; Afghanistan and Iraq, along with Iran and Pakistan have a Stone Age mentality that prevails above all else and simply cannot be broken. Let’s get out of those hell holes now and allow those angry zealots and their neighbors to duke it out amongst themselves so their civilization can return to the dark ages. Their nonsense has no chance of spreading the way Soviet Communism did. With the $billions saved per month, Washington can put that back into re-building America.
