The right of politics over the last twenty-five years has allowed itself to become the repository of the lunatic fringe of society. By and large that lunatic fringe is made up of religious nutters. To me the crowning moment was when President Bush started to invite now disgraced evangelist Ted Haggart to stay at the White House as a regular guest. This disgusting specimen of a man, father of four, who demanded of his flock a virtuous life was in the meantime for years visiting a “rent boy” (male hooker) in Denver. From the pulpit he espoused homosexuality was an abomination as he enjoyed his regular excursions from Colorado Springs to the “massage table” of Mike Jones in Denver for a few snorts of methamphetamine before some rough sex. The Republican Party has embraced religious screwballs of the likes of Haggart and today these hypocritical peddlers of Jesus are made to look as mainstream as the traditional Presbyterian pastor, when underneath most possess sinister motives for standing on the pulpit.

It is so sad that since President Obama’s inauguration the one or two of my email pen-pals who are of the other variety enjoy sending me disgusting emails promoting our President as a near on fascist, a Muslim or a dangerous Uncle Tom. They even claim he did not graduate from Columbia or Harvard and worse still suggest he is not even American. Now my views of President Bush and his deputy are certainly not flattering and sure as men, I have little respect for them only because of the evil that was perpetuated under their regime; be it Wall St greed or the Iraq war. However it seems okay for the religious right led by Boehner, Palin and Romney to sit back, say nothing and by saying nothing promote a dangerous growth in extremism which could even lead to all sorts of violence and bloodshed.

The FBI just nabbed the Hutarees in the nick of time before they embarked upon a series of murders to promote their Christian beliefs. The Hutarees is another militia similar to the KKK, Skin Heads who see the taking up of arms and revolution under the eyes of God as the only answer to cleanse the United States and restore the Constitution. This moron fringe of the right want democracy replaced with anarchy and above all as anarchists they don’t want to pay taxes of any sort. The Hutaree mob lived in a run down trailer amongst squalor, but they possesed a dozen or so high powered rifles to every one member. We now know what their intentions were. What appalls me is they represent a growing faction inside American society. The GOP through its own brand of hatred has allowed the likes of the Tea Party to prosper and to make Militias look a legitimate part of disaffected mainstream America.

Tea Party members have been quoted as saying they understand the plight of the Hutarees because it is all about the socializing of America and taking away peoples’ freedoms and the right to choose. Unless the GOP rids itself of these crazies, should “God forbid” they do become the majority party, then like the Roman Empire under King Caligula, America in my lifetime will collapse. China will march to victory without a shot ever being fired! To my idiot “pen-pals” before I erase you altogether, I must tell you it amazes me how all of you are, beneficiaries of Social Security and Medicare, yet you believe President Obama has caused you untold grief and lowered your standard of living. In a way you’re a mirror of Ted Haggerty; hypocrites of the first order.

I spent a little time over the weekend watching C-Span and the debate going on in Congress over the healthcare reform bill. Naturally I wanted to see the bill passed into legislation, but I was still somewhat nervous that a few idiot democrats had been bought by the lobbyists and the anti abortion movement. Thank goodness, Boehner and his loony colleagues, with all their fear mongering ended up looking right “Charlies” when the votes were finally counted. President Obama created history today doing something Presidents for nearly a century couldn’t do, signing a healthcare bill into legislation. Unfortunately what we now have is really a shadow of what America was promised at election time. Lobbying is alive and well and the fact that health related stocks jumped on Wall Street signifies the greatest beneficiaries are the those very same companies securing another thirty odd million people into their ranks so they can ripped off.

It amazes me how even the gun toting red neck Republican from the foothills of the Ozarks lays claim to America being the bastion of freedom and liberty but when you take a hard look at the party he supports, they certainly don’t practice what they preach. France is almost as much an entrenched Catholic country as Ireland, yet Presidents can have mistresses to show off to the world and who invented the morning after pill? None other than the French. I believe in a woman’s right to choose, because that is what liberty and freedom stands for and for me that is a very simple stance for an American to take.

Not that I care, pornography is a major employer in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles and one word can sum up that industry; sleeze. Under Bush, pornography grew into a multi-billion dollar industry. For Republicans, on the one hand it seems quite okay for children and perverts to obtain their kicks and practice what they learn from porno websites, but on the other, forbids an adult woman to make her own choice on whether to abort or not to abort. The success of the Healthcare bill came down to President Obama guaranteeing that the government would not provide funds for abortions. I would have been happier seeing smokers and drinkers paying a huge premium for their insurance cover, because they are the ones who fill our hospitals with their expensive medical problems. But the religious right got their way!

Isn’t it ironic with the global exposure of Catholic priests practicing carnal knowledge upon little boys and girls this receives such little mention on Capital Hill, yet teenage pregnancy which has reached epidemic proportions amongst the poor, abortion actually appears a great solution to help alleviate the hopelessness of the impoverished and uneducated. The alternate welfare and social costs of young unwed mothers are enormous, something the right also hates; but hell no; the right’s answer is no abortion under any circumstances and if possible, no welfare as well!

I know I “sledge” (Aussie for slag) President Obama maybe a little too often especially when I readily concede I am on his side. But it is more about the disappointment of how slow issues of vital importance are being processed by his administration. I never thought the healthcare bill would end up so drawn out. He was too soft on his generals. The product that keeps terrorism funded is now being sold at fire sale prices there is so much supply. The poppy fields are the reason Afghanistan is so “popular” and ever since America’s presence there heroin has become cheaper than crack! If we have such a smart air force with the fanciest/smanchiest armaments I would think in a heartbeat we could fireball/kill off every poppy plant in Afghanistan before it blossomed. When I think of the misery drugs have created for America, we are running around trying to find a few towel head zealots while opium poppies bloom!

Obama and all those around him are “Jonesers” and they think it is their duty to tackle everything differently from the baby boomer generation. In international diplomacy they give dialogue a completely new meaning. They have worked hard at making groveling very fashionable. The world now thinks America has reduced itself to an apologetic nation mired in internal turmoil and they can’t stop laughing at us. I hated most things about the Bush/Cheney era but why did we have to make such a U turn?

Now that is off my chest, President Obama on the other hand is quietly doing great things. One of those great things is his stimulus plan and I can vouch how much this will positively impact upon CII. Maybe, I should stop worrying about the woes of the world and do what most of the young now do; “It is all about me!” Thanks to President Obama, CII now employs seven smart, bright young Americans paid for by his stimulus plan. These seven people in less than one month have become productive and valued colleagues. They are being trained up in every facet of freight forwarding and having them on board now, by the time our exports start to boom, we have a huge head start to take advantage of the commercial opportunities better times will present for us.

These seven new members of CII were victims of the recession. Our company, like every other in America is right now fighting for its life. We could never afford to expand in these rough times, but President Obama has created an absolutely positive environment for us, but moreover jobs for good citizens who deserve hope and a little help so they too can attain the American dream. Financially, the downside for us actively participating in his plan is infinitesimal if it “was all about us”, but Pete and I look at the situation very differently. President Obama may be helping us for one year, but when the “magnificent seven” are placed onto our payroll, our business will already be on a roll and reaching new heights. In other words the upside for us is mind boggling.

President Obama, I can state that because of you, CII will be a far stronger company, but moreover we will not let you down. These seven new team members are already huge assets to our company and they will truly benefit in the future success of the company. All thanks should go to you and the incredible team of people at local level, led by Fetu-Au Alailima who have handed seven of the finest of young Americans over to our care. You have turned hope for us all here into reality.
