Far and away the team with the greatest spirit in the soccer World Cup was USA. For me apart from this, what will stick in my memory is how the tournament was marred by two things; the appallingly low standard of referring and all those inane idiots mindlessly blowing their vuvuzelas. When the cameras beamed on them, they weren’t even watching the game. They were gazing into space with stupid looks, hell-bent blowing the horns as loud as they could. The only time the vuvzelas were drowned out was when Americans outgunned them singing the national anthem on the occasion of USA meeting Ghana. The quarter finalists have now been decided and overall there are no surprises. However they hold little interest for me. Thank goodness this weekend coming up I have the Wimbledon finals to watch.

2010 World Cup - Team USA

Although soccer is far and away the most popular game on earth, to me the coveted World Cup means as much to most participants as the NBA players representing the States at the Olympic Games. Usually professional soccer players are enjoying their summer holidays spending some of the millions they earn per year parading their spoilt asses in exotic resorts like Ibiza hanging out until sunrise each day clubbing and involving themselves in other extra curricular activities. Last year, Portuguese heart-throb, Cristiano Ronaldo spent the whole summer in L.A. balling none other than Paris Hilton! These spoilt pigs from around the globe are bored having to give up three weeks of debauchery to play for their country. The grandest example of a team who couldn’t care less about playing for their country was France. For a huge number of players, there was no honor attached to representing their country and the style of play in most games showed exactly that. As for the few who did take great pride in playing in the biggest sporting event that comes around every four years, they were playing for countries which, had the pre-Cup draws had been properly designed and executed, they would not have made it into the final thirty-two anyway.

The only team which truly displayed pride representing their country, great sportsmanship and played their hearts out every game was team USA. There was something old fashioned about their approach. In my era of participating in sport, there was a word you could attached to those good enough to reach the top echelons in sport; gentlemen. That even went for boxers! Only two major sports today remain reasonably close to their traditions and those are golf and tennis. Arnold Palmer is not an anachronism, nor is Rod Laver. Today’s golf (please exclude Tiger Woods) and tennis champions are made of the same stuff today as yesteryear. Where are the new Pele’s, Bobby Moore’s and Sir Stanley Matthews? I didn’t see any in South Africa!

Because the western world is mired in political correctness this has allowed unfettered wholesale illegal entry of so many peoples who become nothing but a huge social problem once they set foot in their newly chosen homeland. Western European countries in many respects have had their cultures all but destroyed by sitting back and allowing their countries to be overrun by religious zealots who use their new base as a foothold to take advantage of the system and preach hatred of their hosts. England, Germany, France and Spain to name just four have huge issues almost intractable to overcome. London and Hamburg house terrorist cells that are constantly every day plotting their next act of terrorism with impunity and immunity.

Unfortunately Australia who started letting their guard down under the socialist Whitlam government of the seventies realized in the New Millennium they were housing illegal Muslim zealots who were promoting hatred of Australia and demands for the acceptance of Sharia Law ahead of the laws of the nation. Five years ago a Mullah, an illegal resident the courts were having trouble booting out and who could not speak one word of English stood up in the mosque and said Australian women deserved to get raped because they were nothing but pieces of meat! Amid huge outcry he stood firm and even added fuel to the fire. For weeks his statements and responses remained headline news, until one or two of his followers said his words were misinterpreted.

The then Australian prime minister John Howard made it clear from Parliament House, that Australia has rules for new immigrants; among them was to understand the laws of Australia. accept and embrace the life and culture of Australian society, work for a living and speak English. If they couldn’t do that, citizen or not, they then were regarded as un-Australian and as such it would be better for them to return to where they originated from. Aussies jumped for joy that at long last a leader had the courage to stand up for what is right and just.

Since then, the media have kept Australians abreast of the cost of housing illegals and other immigrants who decide on the easy route to survive and contribute nothing to Australian society. Here is one of the latest exposes; Down under when you reach the age of sixty-five you become a pensioner and receive an income from the government similar to our social security. Like Europe, third world Muslims are at the bottom of the social order in poverty and unemployment. The same is applicable for Australia. This chart reflects the average costs to the government of illegal immigrants and refugees;

BENEFIT AUSTRALIAN AGED PENSIONER ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS/REFUGEES LIVING IN AUSTRALIA

Weekly Allowance                                                         $253.00                                                                         $472.50

Weekly Spouse Allowance                                               $56.00                                                                        $472.50

Additional Weekly Hardship Allowance $0.00 $145.00

TOTAL YEARLY BENEFIT                                          $16,068.00                                                                    $56,680.00

Even the current government is starting to take action by listening to the sentiments of all hard working patriotic Australians. A couple who have contributed a lifetime to Australia paying taxes and being productive earns nearly 25% less than someone who arrives illegally on their shores. The injustice is about to be righted. In America the ACLU and bleeding heart liberals and their brethren in Europe see no wrong in what is going on and the issue will never be addressed.

President Obama, your ratings would soar overnight if you acted like Dicky Nixon did with Vietnam and get the troops out of those hell holes of Iraq and Afghanistan tomorrow. As much as I feel saddened by the Taliban retaking Afghanistan and maybe the Kurds and Sunnis getting “back to work” to duke it out between themselves for centuries to come, American lives and money are worth too much to continue being expended on those worthless and lost causes. Thirty years ago we thought the North Vietnamese were nothing but sons of guns and now we do business with them like they are our best friends! Afghanistan can get back to being that backward and corrupt country it has been since history first recorded there was ever an Afghanistan and Iraq is worth less to America than the remaining ice that surrounds the South Pole.

We could get those troops back to America and place them in civilian roles helping rebuild the infrastructure. I do hope the Army Corps of Engineers do a better job than they did with the levees in New Orleans but in saying that, here is an example of how we can redeploy the troops; right now we have utilities who refuse to upgrade their grids (in California fallen power lines have been responsible for numerous wild fires) and rather than fine them when they are responsible for the next disaster, do the work they steadfastly will not do and bill them accordingly. If we can do a take on General Motors, then the Utilities will be a breeze.

It is so odd we want to create democracy in two countries that have operated by the laws of the jungle for centuries when in contrast to this we suck up to every other totalitarian regime or dictatorship on earth. As I said on many occasions, it is horses for courses. Some cultures lend themselves to democracy, others are better pursuing their own agenda. The deal should be unless any country menacingly threatens the territorial sovereignty of the United States, let sleeping dogs lie. We have so much that needs to be accomplished within America that we should let go of being the world’s peacekeeper and hand that role over to Japan, France and Germany. Their defense budgets as a percentage of GDP is miniscule compared to Britain’s and ours. In fact we can sell them the armaments, that will keep the defense industry fully employed for years to come!

As far as Al Qaeda is concerned, I would concentrate on routing out their cells in America, Germany and England before checking out the caves on the Pakistani-Afghan border. It is obvious Pakistan is on the verge of civil war. I can understand that. It is a totally corrupt country. If the Taliban want a slice of Pakistan why should we step in their way? What use has Pakistan ever been to us? In spite of the huge aid doled out to them the vast majority of Pakis believe we are their enemy and fair game to be attacked. Simple logic has it they would trust a Japanese peace force ahead of us.
